A VSI crusher uses a high-speed rotor and anvils or rock liners to crush material. Material is fed into the center of the rotor, which accelerates it outward at high speed. The material is then crushed in one of two ways:
Rock-on-Rock: Material is flung against a curtain of falling material in the crushing chamber. This is ideal for abrasive materials and produces the best cubical shape.
Rock-on-Anvil: Material is flung against stationary metal anvils. This is used for less abrasive materials and allows for higher reduction ratios.
After crushing, the material falls into the modular plant's discharge chute for further processing.
